FABULOUS ROOF SHAKERS with JOE BLUE
The Fabulous Roof Shakers are are led by Perry Sanders on Harmonica & Lead Vocals. Born in Olympia, WA, Perry has been playing music since he was ten. In 1989 Perry started schlepping gear for "Sweatband," a group led by Dennis Hastings and anchored by the guitar of Dave Broyles and the saxophone of Steve Munger. Mostly hauling gear, but occasionally sitting in, Perry went to school on Dennis’ soulful vocals and horn inspired harp playing.
After playing jam sessions with some of the northwest's top blues players, Perry met up with Tom "T-Boy Neil" Boyle in 1997. In '98 they formed "The Steamers" and, along with Freddie "Cleanhead" Kellog on bass and Richard "Smoke" Winfield on drums, they played good time, party blues up and down the Pacific Northwest. In 2000 Perry co-founded "The Blues Attitude" with Jerry "J.B." Bentley, T-Bone Williams and Smoke Winfield.
Perry has been playing blues on the Eastside since 2003. Usually billed as "The Cellarmen," Perry featured Northwest greats such as Karl Thuman, Brian Feist, Mike Coucoules, K.T. Tuttle, Conrad Ormsby and Keith Anderson. Then in January 2006 the Fabulous Roof Shakers were formed which includes Gordon Benson on saxophones and vocals, Bruce Koenigsberg on bass, Keith White on drums, Joe Lane on Guitar and Vocals and Perry Sanders on Harmonica and vocals. FRS was nominated in 2007 for "Best New Blues Band" by the Washington Blues Society. The Fabulous Roof Shakers is a high energy blues band that can shake the roof.
