The Swingnuts perform from 6-9PM tonight. They play high-spirited swing, upbeat Brazilian, and hot jazz—rare gems from the 1920s to the 1950s, plus modern day originals.

Peggy Wendel draws upon her vaudeville theater background to deliver her jazz favorites. She also pens swinging originals on themes as old as romance and as modern as Facebook.

Andy Carr has been on the scene playing piano in Puget Sound jazz and swing circles for over 30 years, as well as accompanying vocalists, choirs, and musical theatre. He can be heard tickling the ivories for the BlueStreet Voices jazz choir, and with Tangoheart Quartet.

Mark Dodge lays a solid foundation on bass, drawn from an extensive knowledge of musical styles and instruments. He’s played professionally since the 1980s. His studio label, Big Quack Records, produces folk, rock, and jazz albums.

Philip Nakano plays percussion with an ear for rhythmic grooves. His flute and sax solos have soul and style. He’s known for his satisfying beats in bands throughout the area, including Rivertalk and Fidalgo Swing.

Pete Smith is an accomplished guitarist who delves into the intricacies of swing, bebop, Brazilian, bluegrass, and gypsy styles. He’s played in Fidalgo Swing and was a regular on the Bongo Corral television show.
