MARK HUMMEL and the BLUES SURVIVORS featuring RUSTY ZINN

Mark Hummel is a road warrior - a true Blues Survivor. Along the way, he has crafted his own trademark harmonica sound - a subtle combination of tone, phrasing and attack combined with a strong sense of swing. His albums, constant touring and appearances at the major blues festivals have firmly established his solid reputation around the US and Europe.

Born in New Haven, Connecticut, Mark absorbed the music of such Chicago based harp blowers as Little Walter, James Cotton, and Sonny Boy Williamson, before settling in Berkeley, California in 1972. There he played with local bluesmen such as Cool Papa, Boogie Jake, Mississippi Johnny Waters and Sonny Lane. In 1980, he took the helm to lead the popular Blues Survivors Band.

In 1985, the Blues Survivors released Playing in Your Town, on Rockinitus Records, and immediately went out on the road. Earning their name, they toured virtually non-stop throughout the United States, Canada and Europe.

In 1988 Mark teamed with Canadian guitarist and vocalist Sue Foley to relase Up & Jumpin'. He followed that with Blues Survivors recordings, Hard Lovin' in 1990, Feel Like Rockin' in 1994 and Married to the Blues in 1995. For Heart of Chicago, Mark's sixth release and first on Tone-Cool, he traveled to the Windy City to record with some of the city's most legendary players like former Muddy Waters sidemen Willie "Big Eyes" Smith and Bob Stroger, guitarist Dave Myers from Little Walter's band, and others. In 1998 Mark released Lowdown To Uptown, a mix of Chicago blues & uptown jazz. This cd featues great guests such as Jr. Watson, Mike Welch, Brenda Boykin & the last piano recording of the late, great Charles Brown. Mark's most current CD is called "Ain't Easy No More" on the Electro Fi label featuring a mixture of Hummel's originals and choice arrangements of previously recorded blues.

Mark has performed at numerous festivals across the country, including the San Francisco Blues Festival, Chicago Blues Festival, King Biscuit Blues Festival, Waterfront Blues Festival, Monterey Jazz Festival, and has performed and judged at the Hohner Harmonica World Championship, held annualy in Germany.

DUDLEY TAFT BLUES OVERKILL

From the desk of Dudley Taft:

Howdy peeps! Just a note here about our band's musical direction! If you have been following us since we started in the summer of 2007, you may have noticed that we have changed quite a bit. Starting out as a five-piece, with keys, horns and percussion, we have slimmed it down to a trio. Gone are the R 'n' B tunes, and now we are a bit more rock. But there is always the unifying thread of the blues in all of our songs.

We are finishing up another round of songs that include one cover, two re-interpretations of older blues songs, and one original. We are continuing to mine the blues archives for new material- especially songs that are riff laden. So, our set list is continually evolving. We have dropped a few songs and set a few others aside for some of the new ones we are trying out.

We are striving to be vital blues artists- we are not just a "cover" band. Come see a show, and let us know what YOU think!

FIRKIN FRIDAYS

On Firkin Fridays, the Rockfish Grill offers cask conditioned versions of Anacortes ales. Cask conditioning is an English tradition that allows the beer to finish its fermentation in the barrel or "firkin" resulting in a character and complexity unique from any other beer. We'll offer a different variety every Friday served directly from the firkin with a traditional English hand pump. There's one batch a week and we pour till its gone, so get it while you can!

RAVINWOLF

True American recording artists, performing singer songwriters and dedicated to the blues, 'Ravinwolf' has released 2 full-length studio CD’s and are currently working on a live all acoustic album entitled “Acoustic Champagne” to be released in 2009.

Their creative approach to acoustic folk-blues is what they like to call “Acoustic Art”... they have a patented a sageland blues sound all their own, a hint of blues rock fusion and southern back-porch style saddled up next to a pop edge with an old school delivery, they are taking the greater Seattle metropolitan blues scene by storm making appearances this year at The Junction Road House in Port Angeles, Egan's Ballard Jam House, the Fire Creek Grill and the Rockfish. They have been described as "organic, raw & free...jubilant & phenomenal," by many of their audiences.

Road ready, Ravinwolf has toured throughout the Northwest from Eugene to Bellingham, eastward to Sun Valley and Missoula and into the reaches of the far North where they spent 2 years touring Alaska from Fairbanks to Homer in promotion of their album "How Are You?"

Their 2009 tour schedule is robust with appearances scheduled this season at Wenatchee's Apple Blossom Festival, Yakima Valley Folklife Festival, Caffe Mela Summer Concert Series and some of the Northwest's finest brews & blues venues, winery Summer Concert venues and premiere music festivals. They are pleased to be offering their support to national talent such as Carrie Clark, Seattle's own 'Flowmotion' and to the Washington Blues Society 2008 Award Winner Alice Stuart & the Formerlys.

Ravinwolf reaches across the aisle of genres...the working man's band and the sophisticated music connesieur's band. Each show is a musical journey made especially for the audience present in the room. Uplifting thought rock...you hear more in their music than the sounds they make.

ALICE STUART

Alice Stuart has played with everyone from Taj Mahal to Frank Zappa. She started her career in the early sixties right here in the Pacific Northwest and along the way has assembled a wonderful catalog of folk, roots and blues.

Alice Stuart blazed the trail for women in Rock and Roll as one of the only females in the country to write her own music, front a male band, and play lead guitar on national and international circuits during the 1970s.

Blues Hall of Fame inductee Dick Waterman once remarked, "There would be no Bonnie Raitt without Alice Stuart."

And according to Taj Mahal, "Alice cut the road that Bonnie traveled."

Alice is a Rockfish favorite, so get here early for a seat.
