BECKI SUE and her BIG ROCKIN' DADDIES
Saturday, October 14, 2006

BECKI SUE and her BIG ROCKIN' DADDIES

Becki Sue & her Big Rockin' Daddies is the Pacific Northwest's premier powerhouse hip shakin' blues band. Powered by the venerable Jim King on sax, blues harp and vocals and the incendiary guitar work of Tom "T-Boy" Boyle, this band takes off like a rocket from the word go.

Up front with Jim is Becki Sue with her big voice and sassy attitude and a style reminiscent of the great Texas blues belters Angela Strehli and Lou Ann Barton.

Backed by the award winning rhythm section of Les "Wildchild" White on upright bass and Jeff Hayes on drums, Becki Sue & her Big Rockin' Daddies is delighting audiences everywhere with their on stage antics and their ferocious blues chops. This is what the blues is supposed to sound like!

FIRKIN FRIDAYS
Friday, October 20, 2006

FIRKIN FRIDAYS

On Firkin Fridays, the Rockfish Grill offers cask conditioned versions of Anacortes ales. Cask conditioning is an English tradition that allows the beer to finish its fermentation in the barrel or "firkin" resulting in a character and complexity unique from any other beer. We'll offer a different variety every Friday served directly from the firkin with a traditional English hand pump. There's one batch a week and we pour till its gone, so get it while you can!

THE STARLINGS

THE STARLINGS

Exploring the deep roots and modern flavors of Americana roots, folk and country, the Starlings are known for their high-energy performances and top shelf musicianship.

The striking harmonies of former acoustic duo, Joy Mills and Tom Parker, can turn from rustic and haunting in one song to sweet and wistful in the next with lyrics that are all at once elusive and accessible.

Through fiery leads on mandolin and guitar, wailing blues harmonica, plaintive lines on the dobro, and the solid pulse of the rhythm section, the Starlings are quickly building their name on the forces of their songwriting and the strength of their musical arrangements.

Their sound evokes ghost towns, trains, back roads, front porches, and wandering souls. With one eye to the keyhole of deeper meaning, they remain dynamic in nature and happy to take the road less traveled.
